kojotutorial: ROY G BIV wreath

Thanks for the felted wool wreath love! Maybe you noticed the ROY G BIV order to the felted wool circles? I'll be honest, I put the circles on there in random order first, but had some stacked in ROY G BIV order on the side of where I was working and liked it so much that I redid the whole wreath that way.

Since there isn't a tutorial for this wreath (and I still can't find the recovergirl page where I first found this), I put one together for y'all. But I should say one more time- not my idea. I was just replicating someone else's loveliness. :)

To make one, you'll need:
-scraps of felted wool (I used felted sweaters) in a whole rainbow of colors
-wire hanger
-rectangle of fabric 18"x6"
-ribbon or 30"x4" rectangle of fabric

1. Cut your felted wool into same sized circles. Mine are about 3" in diameter. Using thick wool ends up for better eye candy, since you only see the circle from the side.

2. Unbend a wire hanger. Poke the wire through the centers of your felted wool circles. In order to get the ROY G BIV look, order the circles approximately like a rainbow- some shade of red (pink and maroon both made their way in here), orange, yellow, green, blue (I had lots of blue, so I usually put a few circles on in each 'blue' cycle), purple. I used my creative license and added in gray/brown at the end. Repeat this pattern until you've strung enough circles to make a wreath-shape. Bend the wire into a circle and twist the ends together.

3. Iron your 18"x 6" piece of fabric in half, right sides together. Sew around the edges, turn right side in and sew shut. Top stitch around the entire rectangle. Press accordion style.

4. Sew your other fabric rectangle into a long, inside out tube. Turn right side in and press with the seam running along the back. Cut off a 3" piece of your tube and set aside. Loop the rest around your twisted wire mess. This will become the tails of your bow.

5. Wrap your 3" bit of fabric tube around your accordion-pressed fabric rectangle. Secure in place with hot glue to make a bow. Pin this to your 'bow tails' on your wreath.

6. Hang and admire. Beautiful!
