She not only has an etsy shoppe with gorgeously girly goodies...
...she also has a fabulous blog (love the tutorials section!)...
...and is just plain great! And today she's here sharing a headband tutorial with us!
Hey kojo readers. :-) My name is Jill and I am the blogger behind mama jill {click}.
I am a mama of 2 (my little man who is 15 months old and my husband's son who is 9), a lover of Jesus and a mega-crafter. To learn more about me go HERE. I opened an etsy shop, mama jill designs, a few months ago as well. Go stop by. :-)
I am SOOO excited about guest posting on here today because this is one of my FAVE blogs! Seriously people- aren't these sisters uh-mazing??? I love everything about kojodesigns. I have a looooong list of things that I want to make in the future that these ladies have shown us.
Ok so let's get to it! :-D {Thats my excited face!}
I don't know about you, but I am an accessory girl. I LOVE em all! purses, scarves, jewelry and especially headbands. I have a TON of them and I wear one almost every single day. I spend WAY too much time making new designs and today I am going to show YOU how to make one! We are going to be making a braided headband. I was at one of those little accessory stores in the mall and I spotted one of these. I LOVED it.... then I looked at the price..... $12.00!?!?! I could totally make that! (us crafters always think that way right???) So I did make it. And I had every single thing on hand to make it and YOU probably do too! SUPER easy!
Supplies:
scraps of 3 different kinds of fabric
scissors
needle and thread
elastic
glue gun and glue stick
not pictured- ribbon
safety pin
cut your elastic to the length that you would like.
I did mine about 4 1/2 inches.
Cut your scraps.
I did 1 inch by about 25.
{I know that seems SUPER long but you will cut it down later}
I attached all of the scraps with the safety pin at one end.
Now ya braid!
{Told ya it was easy}
After you are done braiding figure out the length of your headband that you would like.
{I have a GINORMOUS head... no seriously I do!}
I cut mine to measure 14 inches.
{add the 4 1/2 elastic piece and that is 18 1/2 inches all together.... :)}
After you cut your braid
sew your ends together to secure them.
THEN sew elastic on.
REPEAT on other side.
This was the finished product....
Didn't look so polished...
hmmm...
SO! I added some grosgrain ribbon to make it looked more polished.
I just hot glued it on.
You are done girlfriend!
Here is what it looks like on me....
Now go take pictures of yourself in your mirror with un-natural facial expressions....
bahahaha!
This is my favorite way to wear it- just with hair down.
Real hippie like. :-D
{This one looks a little more me-ish}
wear it with a cute, side-swept do....
Or put your hair up in a messy bun.
{FYI- this is pretty much what my hair looks like every single day... :-D}
I think this is one of my favorite new headbands!
whoop! whoop!
