the owl shower

trish (our sister-in-law), kedron (our youngest sister), kirstin and jordan
So there are three of us sisters (really four because we now have a lovely sister in law as well!).  We may have mentioned once or twice that all three of us girls were pregnant this summer (and you've probably read about our youngest sister's vintage alphabet crib bumper and crib skirt once or twice as well).  I was due in August, our youngest sister Kedron is due in October (she's the one that doesn't do the kojo blog with us... she'd say that she isn't crafty, but that simply isn't true...), and Jordi is due in February.

Earlier this summer, we threw an owl themed baby shower for Kedron.  The highlights?  The fabulous company and amazing baby shower gifts, of course!  And... we primarily used Kedron's nursery decor as the shower decor... Oh, and the picnic-style lunch, complete with boxed lunches was super fun as well!
 theme: owls
palette: orange, apple green, aqua and brown (just like her nursery decor)
 invites
 menu:
Chicken salad sandwiches on crossaints
Kettle chips
Blueberry muffins in parchment paper wrappings
Fresh fruit (isn't the watermelon pram fabulous? our mom made it!)
Treat bar (using all of Kedron's favorite candies)
Bottled water and Izzes
 nursery-decor-turned-shower-decor:
We used Kedron's crib bumper, crib skirt and other nursery decor as the primary shower decor.  We set up a bay window with all of her crib bedding (and then used the area as the backdrop for the boxed lunches), hung her mobile in above the buffet of treats, and used her ruffle "A" as the focal point for the living room.
We also decorated with vintage children's books and alphabet blocks, both of which doubled as shower gifts for Kedron.
other decor:
Ruffle garlands
Clusters of paper lanterns
Owl motif on signs, banners, etc.
 favors:
"Sweet Tweets"- Twizzlers packaged in boxes and sealed with owl labels
Kedron and Trish at the shower- what a great day!
