EDITED TO ADD- Congratulations to #63, Alicia, and #103, Charity, our pattern winners!!!
Today, we're interrupting the Gifts for Guys goodness (don't worry, there's still plenty of fabulous to come) with a Girly Giveaway- The Shortcake Reversible Dress and Romper Pattern by The Cottage Mama.
You might remember that "Sew from a Pattern" was on my 2011 bucket list. And, I should tell you, I blew that one out of that water. I've been a pattern sewing fiend this year! Even more, I actually like patterns- especially when they are as well written as Lindsay's!
The pattern that we're giving away today retails for $12.50 (they're also available for wholesale purchase), and, y'all, I cannot say enough good things about this pattern.
It's easy to follow. The end result is a.dor.able.
Plus, the reversible-ness gives you two looks for every one dress*! I had "little dresses" on my To Make for Piper for Christmas list and I think I'm done. Well, maybe. I'd really love to make a red plaid version, so maybe not. Haha!
*The fabrics I used are- Dress #1- Amy Butler Full Moon Polka Dot and Vicki Payne Olive Oil, Dress #2- Tula Pink Fans in Pomegranate and Black and White Polka Dot Japanese Cotton (I got it here).
Funny story- we took the dress pictures at the Denver Zoo. And we got all sorts of compliments on her dress as we walked around. This four-year-old little girl even ran up to Piper Jane and said, "You are such a beautiful baby. And your dress is SO beautiful today!" So if you're not into random strangers stopping you about your daughter's fabulous style, this pattern might not be for you. Otherwise, I can't imagine a baby girl wardrobe that doesn't need a couple of these dresses.
we call Piper Jane "stinkeye" when she does this... haha!
Last thing- I am what you'd call a beginner sewist (maybe intermediate... begintermediate?). And the directions (and pictures!) were super easy for me to follow! This would be a fantastic, easy project for a beginner! To enter this Shortcake Pattern giveaway (there will be TWO winners)-
1- Leave a comment. Tell me about your fabric 'style' (do you love big and graphic, vintage patterns, stripes and dots, solids- dish!).
2- Follow The Cottage Home Blog
3- "Like" The Cottage Mama on Facebook
And go check out the rest of the 'tour' for more chances to win (and some serious cuteness... Jess, Christie and Katy made darling dresses/rompers and I can't wait to see everyone else's!).
Giveaway ends November 17th at midnight- good luck!

I'm pretty sure this pattern is on my list if I don't win any giveaways. :-) I really like the big prints that are so popular right now, like the dots and other shapes. But since I can rarely afford the prices, I'm starting to get into vintage, since I scored LOADS of vintage fabric from an old lady in the neighborhood. :-)

ReplyDeleteI love Amy Butler/Heather Bailey prints, flowers and shabby chic looks.
My style is fairly eclectic. I love bold, bright fabrics but I seem to not sew with them very much. The stripes and solids end up getting used much more! So the bold, bright ones stay on my shelf as eye candy. :)
